"This book "Scorpia" is the fifth book in the series Alex Rider. The main character Alex Rider was assigned a mission to check out the world's most dangerous organization; Scorpia. This mission was sort of emotional for Alex because his long-dead father kind of had a relationship with the leader of Scorpia while he was spying for MI6 as a double in Scorpia. Alex worked as a double too trying to get information about Scorpia and report it back to MI6. What turned out to be a simple mission, turned into an espinoage that almost killed Alex. This book could be by far in my opinion, the best book of the Alex Rider series."
"Wow! Alex starts "getting back into the world that he had hoped he left," just by a vacation to the south of France. In Scorpia, he starts in Venice to meet the contract killer group he is now convinced his father worked for. I can understand how he felt, thinking that his father was a murderer. He must have been counfused and unsure of what to do( The poor guy. I really do feel bad for him.). I am glad that in the end that he learns his father really isn't a killer and hate Scorpia for what they did to him. Sabotage, corruption, intelligence, and assasination? More like silly, crazy, insane, and Alex-should-be-left-alone!!!"
"So Alex goes to Venice in search of information about his father and drags unwitting teacher and schoolfriend into the fringes of his world. When he gets told a convincing tale of the past his anger takes him over to the dark side (or is it?). I know some other people who have read this book don't think this is credible, but I think it is of a piece with Alex' age, his lack of a father and the feeling that he has been betrayed and let down in the past by MI6 - in other words the ground has been prepared in the previous books so maybe those readers were ones taking this as a stand alone. Who knows. Anyway, more dastardly plots, improbable escapes from near-death experiences and twists and turns meant it was rather difficult to put this down."
"I read the first several books of the Alex Rider series long enough ago that it took a bit for me to remember the previous novels. And by the time I'd caught up, I was completely absorbed in the plot of Scorpia. A friend had warned me about the very end and even though I was happy she did, I did not expect what happened. That being said, the book did a very nice job building up to the point. I am disappointed that Alex Pettyfer is too old for more movies in this series, he is a perfect Alex Rider and I would have liked to see this one on screen."
