"From my youngest literate days, I enjoyed the Gumps, Mutt and Jeff, Maggie and Jiggs and Major Hoople. Skeezix and I are class-mates -- he is older than I by six weeks -- so I went through stamp collecting and WWII with him. Since then, I have been devoted to Pogo, Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County and the Patterson family. But if Krazy Kat was in our daily diet in my early years, its art would have been far too cerebral for me. I now enjoy Kat, Ignatz and Offisa Pup in classic reruns. The personality interactions, the seamless puns, the desert landscapes, the adobe structures are a repeated surprise and delight. Recently I spent hours findinging an Arizona road juction where a right turn led to Kayenta and a left to Kaibito. This book overruns with such delights."
