"The blurb paints a picture of fast pased action and for the most part this book delivers.
Where it falls down is in story two (of three). Ringo seems to get lost in a indulgent sex romp that carries on for way to long with little to no point. Its not that I'm a prude (far from it), its just that after the promise of guns, bodies and explosions from the first story a dozen chapters of BDSM which basically does nothing to advance any sort of plot line starts to grate.
The violence when it did come was disappointingly anti climatic, ironically enough given the tone of the rest of the story.
Thankfully Ringo seemed to regain his balance with the final story of the novel.
Overall an enjoyable read if tending toward the litery equivelent of bubblegum."
"This started out as a silly action adventure book, a lot like a Steven Seagal movie. Then it turned in to an S&M story, and then back to another story with Steven Seagal. It was thankfully a fast read, and some of the book was definitely enjoyable, but parts left me cringing as well."
"After reading Ghost I wish I could give it a 2.5 star rating. Since that's impossible, I rounded up, giving the benefit of the doubt. The book shows promise, but has quite a few serious flaws. For the most part it reads like a series of character-building exercises; not character development, which is slowly revealing the character's nature, but character-building, the hopeless flailing that many writers go through as they try to create a fully dimensional original character. That is to say, it reads like stuff that Mr. Ringo should have done in private and kept to himself while he was hammering out his protagonist's quirks. As I said, the book shows a bit of promise, and on the basis of that promise and assurances that the books that follow are better, I plan to go on to read more of the Paladin of Shadows series."
