"this was a pretty good suspense book. It is about an ex-FBI agent who gets taken for ransom. Her estranged husband who is an ex-FBI profiler tries desperately to find her. The author does a great job at developing each of the characters while keeping the suspect's identity unknown until the very last of the book. It ended a little abruptly for me and there was a quite a bit of swearing in it but it wasn't too unnecessary for the type of book it was."
"What a fantastic read that has me addicted to Gardner's work. As it followed the story of an alcoholic, a young foster child and their families I connected with each of this novels characters as they suffered their own terrible situations.
Though seeming a short novel Gone packed a lot of punch and continued to do so through its entirety. Characters that you expect have gone wrong along the way will surprise you, just like those you think you can trust.
I'll definitely be adding her other books to my wish list."

After reading Alone, I was expecting a simliar experience. I didn't get it.
Not that an author should be tied to writing one style of novel, mind you.
But I do ask that at least the book be entertaining. And Gone wasn't quite as entertaining as Alone. The middle of the book sags a bit and while there is some suspense, it's not quite the page-turner that Alone was. Part of it may be that the story often descends into predictability, thus ruining much of the drama since I guessed what was happening next and where things were going."
