About this title: Frank Lloyd Wright has been canonized as America's greatest architect - the man who gave us the Guggenheim Museum, and dozens of other 19th and 20th century American architectural landmarks. The scandals of his early life - including his multiple marriages and the bizarre axe murder of his third wife and family by an outraged servant in 1914 - have long since become the stuff of legend. Yet by far the most bizarre, prolonged, and fascinating period of Wright's prodigious career - from 1932 through the end of his life in 1959 - involved his founding and stewardship of the Taliesin Fellowship ...

"Frank Lloyd Wright was a man who turn his "apprentices" of The Fellowship into a kind of cult following. This was facilitated by his wife, Olgivanna. It is the story of ego, cruelty, selfishness, predation, lying, and (oh, yes, I'd better throw it in), talent. The extensive research into all aspects of this "world" of Taliesin East and West is incredible."
"I love Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture. It is a highpoint to visit these works of art/architecture in my travels. THE FELLOWSHIP is a great background on his life, his influences and his legacy as one of the greatest American architects. It does have its gossipy moments in tone...its definitely not a dry, staid biography."
"A gossipy book about the master builder. Delicious. Favorite moment in the book - meeting Ayn Rand to discuss her screenplay for the movie (from the book), The Fountainhead (Howard Roark was based on Wright). Frankie took an instant dislike to the chain smoking Rand - she dared to blow smoke close to his face! He reached out, grabbed her cigarette and flicked it into his fireplace. She calmly produced another cigarette and lit up...."
"This is a phenomenal read for anyone who is interested in Frank Lloyd Wright, particularly his life beyond the personal relationships that were quasi fictionalized in Loving Frank and The Women. This engrossing non-fiction work recounts Wright's years with his third wife, Olgivanna Lloyd Wright, and the fellowship program he developed at his home, Taleisin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin. It includes some revelations about his greatest works that truly surprised me (such as drawing the plans to Fallingwater in two hours, after months of procrastination, and dumping horrific engineering problems on his staff). The authors' reporting is extraordinary and reveals numerous personal traits of the Wrights that I found unlikeable and even appalling at times. Learning what I didn't know about Wright almost quashed my enthusiasm for his works - but ultimately didn't."
