"Read it for the first time while in 7th grade, or something like it, and I didn't really grasp it then, merely finding the hardcover book and it's title attractive. Read it recently, and I can say that Unamuno wrote a piece after my own heart, with a somewhat sedate, but irresistible pace that ends with a lengthy consideration. Wholeheartedly recommended."
"Rereading this for the 2nd time since I didn't really remember much from the first time I read it. It is a very interesting book especially towards the end when Unamuno takes up a conversation/ suicide duel with his protagonist. Bizarre to say the least. Not my favorite by Unamuno. I think I like his non-fiction philosophical essays best."
"This book has haunted me for almost twenty years. Each time I read it, I find a new truth (probably one I wasn't ready for before). I'm always amazed that it was written so long ago and yet has such modern characters and humor. Obviously timeless."
