"I like this book, mainly as a complement to Lonely Planet. There are many places, that are not in Lonely Planet, but are really interesting.
When you follow Lonely Planet advice, you usually end up in a place with a bunch of other tourists with the same book. Since The Rough Guide is not so well known, it can help you find more interesting places, that are not so crowded.
That being said, at least this one misses some essential information on how to get there, when are the places open, etc."
"It's lots of fun planning holidays and this book covers a huge number of places in Japan with quite honest commentary. I wasn't a huge fan of the general layout as I thought some areas were more confusing than they needed to be, but overall a good travel guide to Japan."
