"This book is clearly very dated in terms of literally the year in which it was written and now the year that I have read it. However, there is so much good stuff in there for investors. One may not agree with its central tenets; however, grappling with Graham's assertions could only make one do better investment homework and to properly justify to oneself one's investment philosophy. It is written for the layperson, and doesn't get into analysis, but stays at a theoretical level. I think it is still worth reading even after all the years that have passed since its first writing."

"It's funny, I picked up this book to learn how to identify undervalued companies, which is what Graham is famous for. What I got out of it is something completely different.
I learned that a truly intelligent investor, before even firing up Google Finance, can identify his financial goals and his risk tolerance, and is also realistic about his skills, knowledge, and commitment. Probably half of the book is dedicated to this stuff, and I'm sure that most people skip right over it.
