"Second book has more political intrigue and I think he gives fair voice to both environmental and rancher concerns as he deals with an attack on a number of high profile environmentalist targets. Box is refining his story-telling in the Joe Pickett saga and the story is much crisper and more entertaining than the first. This series has become a must read for me."
"The first book, Open Season, I thought was creative writing 101 at the freshman English class level but I liked the character he developed. The setting and the character was unique. So i thought I would give C.J. another shot and read Savage Run. His writing did improve. A much better story. This was a good page turner. Just what I was looking for during these lazy days of summer. I am looking forward to Joe Pickett book #3."
