About this title: One of his school's "ghost-walkers," Chance Taylor doesn't speak in class, doesn't have friends, and flees as soon as the day is over. He's got bigger problems to tackle, like mooring rent for the decrepit sailboat he and his out-of-work, alcoholic father live on. Worried that they'll soon be out of money, Chance can't refuse a lucrative job ...

"I would suggest this book to anyone who loves a good, captivating story! If you are like me and get bored with books easily than this masterpiece is for you! I couldnt set it down! When this poor boy Chance gets in a pickle when his mom abandons him and he is forced to live with his alchoholic father, he shows leadership and maturity beyond what any 13 year old boy should have in my opinion. His only real "friend" is a girl that goes to his school, Melissa. Their fathers both served in the military, but her father left Chance's dad for the rats. Melissa would have to be my favorite character because even when chance wont tell her how he is making enough money to support him and his father, ahe stays with him. My least favorite character would have to be Chance's mother because she left Chance behind and moved off suddenly in the night. Chance is asked one day if he wanted to make some 'easy money' when he replies yes, youll never believe how the story takes off! He runs everyday to a certain spot and has to look in the bushes for misterious packages, if there is one he must run it back to the boat dock where he and his dad live and leave it in a secret locker! That would have to be the part in this book that captivated me the most, you never know what will happen in this book. What kept me reading this book would have to be the fact that you kind of know what is in the packages but it keeps you guessing everytime if he will get caught or in trouble. You wouldnt ever be able to guess what happens in this book, at least i didnt! If this was made into a book i would like Billy Bob Joe Thornton as chances dad. Shia Labeouf as Chance and the girl from Juno as Melissa. I was wired up throughout this entire book because of all the suspense. My favorite line from the book would have to be, "When someone offers you easy money kid, you take it!""
"This YA lit. has an engaging linear plot that held my attention the entire time. Chance, the main character, takes a job running packages from a secret cubby to a locker outside of the marina where he lives. Chance knows that he's probably running drugs, but with an alcoholic father and with bills to pay, he feels like he has no choice. However, the packages start to change, and he has to begin storing them on the sailboat where he lives. Chance fears that he may be a part of something more treacherous than drug-running."
"i absolutly LOVED this book. it made me cry. it even made me on the edge of my seat. i actually would sneak and read this book in the middle of class. im not one who likes books at all but this book i think i loved so much because i related to the situations the characters were put in to a certain extent."
"The story of a Chance Taylor, High School boy who is struggling with what life has dealt him. His parents are divorced, he's supposed to be with Mom, but Mom dropped him off with Dad one weekend and took off. Dad lives on a sail boat down at the Marina in town, he's mostly drunk and out of work. Chance loves to run, but doesn't run at school, just around town. He's approached by a guy at the Marina who offers him a job. Chance will find a package under a tree in one part of town, and deliver it to the Marina, and leave it in a his locker. He doesn't know what it is, where it comes from or who it goes to. But he know's it wrong. He does it anyway a decision which eventually leads to someone's death. The book comes across a little flat for me. The girl he likes is the editor or the school newspaper and she's worried about getting into Stanford(pilot spoiler, she doesn't...she gets into Brown) It was also a little heavy on the patriotism and painting enlistment as a good option for Chance after school."
