"A book by a college professor I really liked. More oriented towards group or government conflicts, but also has good information on individual conflict resolution."
"A great book for Leaders and managers. This book can help anyone in many different settings. There are great chaprters and examples dedicated to the home, workplace, schools etc. One of the best books I have read about how one get get down and be on the same level as another.
Really a great book for teachers and therapists as well as parents."
"I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Week's careful, comprehensive explanation of the eight steps he suggests to resolve conflict were clear and easy to understand. I appreciated the examples he gave with each of the steps, making the content more alive and realistic. I use the book to help avoid conflict with those people and organizations I deal with daily. I use it to counsel those in conflict (I don't have my copy now bcause I've lent it to a school administrator to help him peacefully resolve a conflict). The one area I felt Weeks needed to address was cross-cultural conflict resolution. He did address the choosing of the venue, choosing a place that does not offend cultural mores (Weeks 1992:76-80). Most of the eight principles he expounded could be adapted into different cultural contexts. I missed seeing some examples of these eight steps of conflict resolution in cross-cultural contexts. As an example from current events, I would have been very interested in reading his example of how the negotiating parties chose the venue for the talks between the Israeli government and the Palestinian governing coalition. I highly recommend this book for reading, learning concepts and most importantly, to put in practice."
