"This book does a nice job of breaking the whole country into bite sized pieces for reading and planning. It describes various attractions, and puts a lot of detail into logistics. It offers a number of different ways to get from point A to B, and suggests worthy detours or stop-offs along the way. It gives a large selection of food and shelter options. I like that it recommends some guides as well. I'm not sure if I'll use one or not, but it's great to know that, if I feel overwhelmed or lazy, I have some recommendations. It's fantastic that he puts some time into describing the content of the historical and art locations. Really, my only complaints amount to his interests not totally lining up with mine. He only rarely addresses locations of notable natural beauty, and even then the options discussed are limited to VERY light/touristy activities. His discussion of wine stops is only cursory, but my expectations were not as high here. In the end, easy to read, lots of useful information, and it's turned me on to art destinations that I almost certainly would have missed otherwise."
"As usual Rick proves to be a great source of advice and information for anyone traveling to Europe. Although his directions to things are sometimes not so clear and what he says you can see in one day always takes us three."
"I actually read the 2006 version ... not the travel writer I'd have chosen, but it's what the Peace Corps Morocco library had, and it gave me some good tips for my upcoming trip to Madrid."
