Stressing the importance of organically grown, unprocessed foods--processed foods, of course, were not available to Moses and Abraham--he also recommends avoiding shellfish and pork, and suggests an intensive 40-day change in diet that begins with severe cutbacks but allows, gradually, for the introduction of red meat, fats, and carbohydrates. In addition to diet, Rubin interprets biblical advice on other ...

"Would you put water in your gas tank instead of gasoline? Of course not, yet we put all kinds of things in our bodies. This book helps to take us back to the basic knowledge of our bodies, how they work and what keeps them or hurts them. I really recommend you pay attention to the first chapters that deal with what your body needs and what it does not. The diet at the end, I agree, is hard to follow. IT is ideal, but not always possible. But if all you take away from it is learning to care for your body properly, you will have made a major investment in your health of which you will reap benefits for a long healthy life."
"I learned SO much about the human body and how it interacts with the food we eat from this book. It was a good balance to Michael Pollan's "In defense of food". The only bad part is that he's trying to sell supplements. I just ignored that stuff."
"I think there is a lot of truth in this book about God's design in how we should eat nutritionally. I will credit this book in sparking some interest in going back to school."
