"An OK fast light read for when you are in the mood for a soap opera. YA level of writing makes it a good choice on evenings when you are too tired to concentrate or engage your brain. It would be a more enjoyable novel if any of the characters would grow a brain and engage it--but that would make it a shorter, leaner novella. This sausage was made with too much filler and not enough meat."
"I was surprised to learn that I enjoy reading some fictitious stories, especially when written from a Christian's heart. A normal person giving all their cares to God. We can learn from a pen inspired by God...even if the story is a parable based on practical realities of daily living. Isn't that how Jesus taught us?
I used to think reading fiction was a waste of time, as if there was absolutely no value in it. I want substance when I read a book...not shallow fantasy.
But I don't have any leaning toward fantasy really..unless it involves unicorns. BUT Hey... I do believe in fairies! Think happy thoughts ya'll.
Actually I feel like such a hypocrite now saying that fictional stories have no value. I loved Peter Pan..the movie! fur real! I still love that part where Wendy leans over to give Peter a "thimble";) and the hidden kiss that has to be sought and found.
I like fictional movies that tell a story of value as well as books. And the Bible says there were unicorns...and I believe that is true. If the Bibles says it...it is so. (I don't believe in fairies, but I do believe in hidden kisses;)
Okay, now to the book. It was easy to read. The story line had application for one such as muah (hidden kiss - did you catch it?:) I liked the book. It was a good read. But I must say...I am not one who likes to be left hanging. That's what happens in these series books. They go on foreva. Gosh, why I don't they just sit me in front of "These are the days of our lives". My point is I like to get to the end of the story before there's an end to me. I NEED closure.
However, I can see myself reading the next book in this series. I want to know what happens with Luke and Reagan, and it's good that Christian writers are able to portray us as God loving people who still do unGodly things....and still love God and are comforted by knowing He still loves us...and there is a future and a hope...for tomorrow & will someone just once say for "Today" too? OH! My bad! "My grace is sufficient for thee" spoken by God. The grace that was sufficient for Paul is the same Grace that is sufficient for us today....and all inclusive...foreva..today, tomorrow and yesterday too. I must digress, but God did say there was a future and hope even for today when He said His grace is all sufficient for us....and again when He said "Today is the day of Salvation" (Google it King+James+Bible and the scripture I quoted will work toooo.
Again I digress, I'm sure the ups and downs these characters will end in a faithful inspired word that encourages us to trust God with all our tomorrows, and all our sorrows.
It was a good read. No complaints. I'm sick of being critical anyhow. Don't worry I haven't forsaken my standards...I just don't feel like telling everyone everything that draws a response from me. Can you feel me?
Anyhow I think I'm going to publish this review...we'll call it the first in a series of how I give a review without reviewing anything really, at least not the book.
"The story behind why Ashley is so distant from family and friends is revealed. A lot of tearjerker moments. This book is a quick read and made me want to reflect on my own relationships"
