About this title: In 1715 the German philosopher Leibniz warned his friend the Princess of Wales of the dangers posed to religion by Newton's ideas. The matter was referred to Newtonian scholar Samuel Clarke and thus began an exchange of papers that became a seminal document in the philosophy of science.
