But some experiments are best left alone...Quint is the son of a sky pirate captain. He arrives in Sanctaphrax at the request of ...

"Really enjoyed this book, the world that Stewart & Riddell created is so imaginative,, i love the illustrations! was surprised the main character in the first 3 books was not in this book, the book was about completely different characters, very fun :)"
"What I learned from this book: Very quickly, I learned this was not a continuation of Twig's trials from Book 3. The setting is the same, but we have a new cast of characters and a new storyline. Quint, the son of a sky-pirate, has been apprenticed to his father's good friend, Linius Pallitax, a High Academe on Sanctaphrax. Linius' daughter, Maris, becomes jealous of the time Linius spend with Quint until she is drawn into helping Quint learn what Linius is doing in the depths of the rock. Linius' strange behavior has brought question to his worth for the position and there are some who would like to see him disappear. Unfortunately, Quint's attempts to help solve his master's problems unleash a horror into the Edge.
The legion of strange creatures that fill the other books in the series continue here and the detailed illustrations intrigue me. This book has enough adventure and romance to be a treat for a variety of readers."
"Big big plot build up, yet ending doesn't seem to match it. But, in general, the series is still a decent series. I look forward to reading the last three books."
