"If you want to learn how to smoke bbq, this book will disappoint. The authors pay lip service to using a grill to bbq, and instead write about how to buy various kinds of pit bbqs. Come on, really? On the otherhand, the recipes look interesting...but the entire book lacks coherent explanations. Oh well."

"This book has great info for anyone from a novice to an expert using a smoker. Besides all of the easy-to-follow recipes for meats and seafood, there are good "sides" recipes included. I really like the simplicity of ingredients and prep techniques, too. Throughout the book, there are numerous quips and asides about some of the "smoke" shacks and restaurants throughout the country, smoker cooking lore, and just plain fun facts and history of this ancient form of preparing meals. I would definitely recommend this book (and already have to my brother-in-law) and any of the other books authored by the Jamison's."
