"A beautiful reinterpretation / translation of Sophocles' Antigone. Although done in the form of a poetic play, the imagery created by the dialogue is stunning, thrilling and deeply passionate. Best of all, it takes an hour to read so is readily available for multiple dip-ins."
"Seamus Heaney chose to make this an English translation in plain and simple language, and he succeeded, but it lacks the poetry I loved in the translations that are harder to read. If you love the play "Antigone," you will enjoy this translation."
"A well done modern translation of Sophocles' Antigone. Heaney wrote the translation for a modern stage production and I can imagine it played very well. He chose to remove the singing and dancing that belonged to the original Greek and I wish he hadn't, but it was still a really good read."
