"I really liked this book alot because it's based on a true story and this can happen to any teenager out here. This novel is based on the main character Kristina Georgia Snow and how she is introduced to the "monster"-crank, who starts as a strait-A student then to a drug dealer, and eventually to a teen mom. What first looks like an adventurous ride turns to a living hell-her life. This first started when she went to go visit her father in Albuquerque. There she meet a guy named Adam who she called buddy. When Kristina would meet new people she would tell them her name was Bree.Bree was an fun, outgoing, and carefree person while Kristina was held back and shy.Bree feel in love with buddy but by that time she had to go back home to Reno. After she returned back home they wrote letters back and forth but eventually their love did not last.At this point Kristina was addicted to the "monster" and if it was necessary to date two guys to get the monster in her hands she would do it.Both Chase and Brendon used crank. Chase didn't make it to college and Brendon was the kind of guy that doesn't respect women.Later on in the book she gets raped by Brendon and at the end she finds out she's going to have a baby. This book has a sequel to it called Glass.I really recomend this book to people who like reading about lives of teenagers and the challenges they fase throughout their lives."
"Omg! I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! This Book Is The Best! I Swear This Book Taught Me Alot Of Stuff That I Probably Would Have Learned Until Years From Now! It's A Great Book You Should Read It."
"At first I didn't want to read the book because it was very lengthy in pages. However, once I flipped through the pages, I saw that there was a lot of white space and the writing was in forms of poetry. Once I started reading it, I had no idea what was going on. This book overall was fairly confusing to me. However, I got the overall jist which is the girl is addicted to drugs. The monster is I believe crack. The girl is a normal teenager who goes through relationships where she gets taken advantage of because she falls too hard for the guy. One guy even scarred a heart onto her. It shows how people around her and her family couldn't relate to her and she felt alone. I like the overall plot of the book, but if it was written in a more clear way, I would have liked it more. In the end I believe she recovers from her drug addiction and finally finds comfort and understanding in her life. I would recommend this book to people who like to read poetry. It took me a long while to read because I wasn't really interested."
"I was amazed at what the book Crank taught me. It taught me to be myself and most important, to avoid drugs. Kristina learned that the hard way. I was surprised at how much she changed through the book. One moment she was herself and the other she would be "Bree", the other person inside of her. Bree was the demon. She was the person who insisted on doing "the monster" (crank) and to be wild with boys. All the boys liked Bree but didn't even get to know who Kristina really was. Kristina was a lovely girl, always behaved and did what she was told. I loved that person but not who she became. It was so crazy that all this began just after a visit to her dad's house. You wouldn't expect something like this to happen with her dad and the others around her. I was so frustrated at how 'the monster' changed her from Kristina into Bree. And I hated the fact that she was raped by Brendon and gave birth to Hunter. Every time she was closer and closer to crank she was in more and more danger. When Ellen Hopkins wrote this book she wanted to teach young adults to be careful of what they chose in life. Crank and the series Glass is actually based on her daughter's real life experiences with the monster. She had me thinking about the security of my choices. This book has taught me about how something so simple could ruin your life in a blink of an eye. It's not that hard to just throw your life away. She has showed me that what Kristina and her demon Bree have done is not what I want my life to turn out to be. If I had never read this book I wouldn't even know how easy it could be to ruin your life. This book is a great opportunity to learn about how many bad things are out there in the world and in the end all of this has had a great impact on me."
