"This is the book that every watercolorist should have in their library. Even if Jack's style and technique is not close to yours his comments, directions, use of color and attitudes can influence anyone's painting for the better. It is a sketchbook that captures the feel of the subject, rather than just the objects, it is to the painter what a journal is to a writer. It is the smell, the excitement, the attitude of the scene that Jack puts into each of these thumbnails and studies along with notes and ideas that can give us new insight into our painting.
