About this title: A much-needed new catalogue that updates Italian scholar Lionello Venturi's 1936 version. At the time of Venturi's death in 1960 his archive was given to John Rewald, the great impressionist scholar. With the help of his assistant, Jayne Warman assembled a vast body of new material. In fact, in this volume Rewald accepts as Cezanne's 954 paintings--115 more than Venturi. The catalogue is published in a two-volume format--one of plates, one of text--to facilitate reading while viewing an illustration.
