"This is a good introduction to Pre's life and running career. It's interesting to compare Pre's modest background and upbringing to today's athletic "stars."
I like it that the book is short and to the point; and mostly sticks to facts and first-hand accounts instead of taking off on long flights of speculation. This book also made me curious for more. I'd love to see a longer biography one day, but I think this book already goes a long way in conveying Pre's magic and appeal."
"Pre was such a huge star in track and field that it's a shame no one has written a truly comprehensive, "warts and all" biography of this man's life.
While Jordan's sparse book is interesting, its tone is so unapologetically sycophantic you end up wondering if you're only seeing a sliver of the complex man Pre was. He glosses over many aspects of Pre's life that I would have liked to have read more about, such as his experience at the Munich Games."
