"If I was asked to chose my all time favorite book, this would be it. I have read it before- sometimes annually- and always as Christmas approaches. This book has changed, forever, the way that I think about the original "Christmas story". The main way it has affected me is that I have come to a greater awareness that this is not a "story", but involved quite ordinary people called to an extraordinary work. It has deepened my love for the original cost and wonder of Christianity. It deepens me as a Christian."
"I really did like this book. But I didn't love it. It had too much sensuality in it, which just bothered me, especially given the sacred nature of the characters involved. Romance and love are fine but to me it was just too much. But I did enjoy the look at "life in Nazareth" and the down to earth look at how it really could have been. The author is great at character development and you feel like you really know the characters (or her interpretation of the characters) at least."
"This book is so good. It is the Story of Mary and Joseph in a romance point of view. It is perfect for the Christmas season. It gave me lots more incite on how hard it was for Mary and Joseph; and just how serious the situation was. I think older kids should read this (like teens) but I think boys wouldn't enjoy it until 14 or 15. But I loved this book!"
"This was an OK book. I didn't really agree with the author's interpretation of the characters, especially Mary's parents. I could see why this would be appealing to read, most people like to read a good love story, right. But, the assumptions of how each person felt just didn't seem right to me."
