Description: In "Joy, " Osho posits that to be joyful is the basic nature of life. Joy is the spiritual dimension of happiness, in which one begins to understand one's intrinsic value and place in the universe. Accepting joy is a decision to "go with the flow, " to be grateful to be alive and for all the challenges and opportunities in life, rather than setting conditions or demands for happiness. "I never really connect with self-help & newage books so I tend to avoid picking them up. I got through about 3 pages of the Power of Now and had to put it down before i exploded from the extreme amount of stereotypical cliches. While that book probably did have alot of positive information that have helped alot of people - I personally didnt feel like i would get anything out of it. I read Joy as one of my cousins recommended it to me and I would say this book, hands down, changed my life. The way Osho writes is so poetic and clear, you can hear his voice reading the book in your head. His sentences read so calmly. I love how he wasnt biased between any religion or God and simply just tells life how it is. He doesnt sugar coat anything and I cant believe how easily he finds it to summarise human emotions and actions. You at times feel self conscious because it feels like he can see right through you and knows all your shameful thoughts and feelings which we are all too embarassed to confide in anyone. But you soon reaslise that we all feel and do the same things - no one is any different. He introduces you to a whole new way of thinking which completely helps you realise the world in a new light. Its easy to read and you dont have to start from beginning to end. You can just open the book at any page and learn something new every time. Another thing i really loved was that whilst talking about pretty deep topics, he manages to say it in such a comical way that it actually makes you laugh out loud. We all live in such a hectic, fast paced world now and this makes you stop, relax and helps you realise that life is too short to be too serious and unhappy. If i could recommend any book that someone is looking for to change their life, this would sure be it."
"I read this in India during a 24 hour scam ordeal when I was feeling anything but happiness and everything felt sinister. I read everything with the perspective of what I was going through and it tainted things a lot. But I like the message. My favorite passage is where he says you should do what you are meant to do. If you had planned to be a painter then opportunity will knock but it will look for you where you would have been had you been a painter. It has no way of knowing you decided to be a banker instead so opportunity will not look for your there. ;p It's a good read."
"Best most honest, clearest and helpful book Ive read on healing and enlightenment thus far...a must read. I joined the online library at www.osho.com after this read too cause wanted to read all of it."
