"a mother (with help from the whole family, really) chronicles the shift in her son's life from healthy teenager to dark, scary stranger. meant to help other families deal with a bipolar diagnosis, this book intersperses personal narrative and medical/psychological information, including therapy, support groups and a number of addresses and phone numbers for agencies providing support.
i read this when it first came out and i'm not sure the technical stuff has been updated for the "advances in science and medicine" we've seen in the past few years (not that many), but i think every family with a bipolar child should have this book. it won't fix everything, but it will make you feel less alone and less helpless."
