"Truly excellent - for beginners to advanced orchid growers, this is the one book you absolutely need, and whether you have other orchid books or not, you will continue to refer again and again to this one. Mine is dog-eared. Exceptionally well-written, and with 300 full color plates of all the orchids in the encyclopedia section. First half of the book is about orchid care, understanding what orchids want, potting, pests (including organic pesticide use, which I've never seen elsewhere), understanding hybrid names, and so much more. Second half is the encyclopedia of 300 commonly encountered orchids. I have bought at least a dozen copies for orchid friends - and this is the book I give when I also give an orchid plant as a gift. The author is one of the best "teachers" about orchids I've ever had, and she writes in an easy yet wonderfully knowlegable style. Pictures are great too. Don't miss this one for your collection."
