About this title: David Whitsett's book stresses the idea that people create their own reality, so the key to the successful running of a marathon becomes not just training but creative visualization. This is a 17-week guide that takes would-be marathoners from the "can I do this?" couch-bound stage all the way to the "I just ran the marathon, what do I do now?" stage. This is an insightful and inspiring book, with Whitsett clearing a winning path through the negativity and clutter that can get in the way of happiness. Employing strategies culled from Whitsett's marathon training course, readers are given ...

"READ THIS if you've ever thought about running a marathon, or even a half. My loving hubby got this for me for Christmas and he made a great choice. There's a lot of useful information - not all of which I followed to a T - but it was very good to read and think about. I was able to pick and choose what worked for me. It had some good advice that I did take to heart though! And what can I say? It obviously works! I finished my first marathon using this training plan!
PS: I read it twice: once before I started training and once during my training. First I wanted to know what I was getting into and then I wanted to remember what I was supposed to be doing each week."
"Not really wanting to run a marathon, but it was a good book to learn how to start running. Detailed step-by-step guide on how to train. Definitely good for those who don't know where to begin."
"This book worked for me! I successfully finished a marathon using this training plan, and I even finished it much earlier than I had expected. If I can run a marathon using this plan, anyone can."
"This book is very helpful and encouraging. You don't have to be a runner to run a marathon and it shows how gradually you can get there. The multiple stories from different people are motivating, especially since people with issues ranging from weight problems to injuries to cancer have run a marathon. Now if only I could stick to my training schedule..."
