"Outdated and elementary. The only good part was Buffets essay at the end refuting the efficient market theory via historical performance of Graham Dodd investors"
"This is an essential read for anyone who has any plan of putting any money into stocks, ever. Period. Whether you want a low-maintenance fire-and-forget strategy for saving for retirement, or you want to follow in Warren Buffett's footsteps and try to make millions, it's in here for you. (That's millions from patient and diligent work over the course of years--this is absolutely not a get-rich-quick scam.) Just a warning--it will take some patience and diligence to get through the book in the first place."
"This book is quite dry, a good bedtime book for the insomniac. However it is one of the better Investing books I read. Great insight on the "How-To" as well as the "Why" instructions on Value investing. I have found the commentary chapters by Jason Zweig to be a great value as well."
"It's amazing that this book is still relevant after so many years. Graham uses 100 years of stock market data to humble and convince you that you never know what the market will do and if you ever start thinking you do know, be careful. Based on the idea that you don't know, he then builds common sense strategy for investment.
The newest edition as been updated with a chapter of commentary after each of Graham's original chapters that attempts to discuss how Graham's advice would have held up through various market conditions since he last updated the book. This is the man who taught Warren Buffett. It was great reading this book just before the most recent market crash and then asking "what would Graham do?" Try reading this book and then watch CNBC. You'll have a hard time not seeing so much of it as shear folly and so many "experts" right in the middle of it."
