About this title: This book of Hegelian selections by Professor Weiss is...very valuable... The passages incorporated are quite excellently chosen. Since the translations are good, a great deal of the difficult, self-revisionary thought of Hegel comes across, helped on by Professor Weiss's own valuable comments...

"I am thankful for such a book. Hegel is simply a difficult philosopher, and while I resist the temptation to read him in the English, at times commentary and translations are helpful. I was already familiar with Phenomenologie des Geistes, but this book introduced me to Wissenschaft der Logik and Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts. Also, Frederick Weiss has done an excellent job in including the most influential passages, passages which reflect the later philosophies of Marx, Heidegger, Satre and others."
