"More than anything else, I think this book clearly helps us understand what it truly means to live a Christian life. When we talk about evangelism, we do tend to focus on giving the gospel message and not really caring about the person we're sharing the message to. We're like spiritual gunslingers shooting everyone in sight aiming to convert people. We should really ask ourselves what our motivation is in sharing the gospel. Is it that we love people and that we want them to hear the gospel or we just want to grow our church? We should be compelled to share the gospel because of love. That we love them enough to share the good news of everlasting life. Somebody once said that it's hard to believe evangelists because what they say is so different with what they're saying. I think he's right.
Overall, I like this book. It really challenges one to re-evaluate how they see their life as a Christian from a non-Christian's point of view. What I didn't like about this book (which is something they do admit) is that they tend to focus more on lifestyle evangelism, showing the world how loving Christians are, and postpones sharing the gospel until "you have earned the right to share the gospel." I do agree with that up to a point but I think it fails to realize the urgency of our situation. Everyday 150,000 people die. I'm sure most of them didn't know that they would die. This is a real concern which should drive us to share the gospel whenever we can.
Those who share the gospel just for converting people should read the book (and read the Bible more intently). We all need to learn that as Christians, we should love everybody which is what evangelism is all about."
