"I really enjoyed reading this book because its something i can be easily related to especially with my old best friend Claudia. This book was sad for me to read, because death, and sepreation. What happens when your best friend left you in the world when you have no one to turn to? Samanthan lost her best friend who she had used to do everything with. Until one day when cancer took her best friend Juliana away. Samanthan try her best and move on, but still has a spot for Juliana in her heart. Until one day she met Mona who became her bestfriends. but when summer ends, they are going on their sepreat way. what's bothering Samantha is will they still be friends? or the friendship is over ."
"From the preface of the book, till the outcome, it is made clear that the two protagonists, Mona and Samantha, are great friends. They do everything together; they find an apartment together, they talk, they cry, they laugh. At the end of the summer, they find boyfriends who are also best friends. Everything is picture perfect as "best friends" go. Nevertheless, even best friends have secrets from one another. In actuality, Samantha's real best friend lost the fight against cancer about a year ago. In becoming friends with Mona, Samantha was able to block out and forget Juliana, her best friend, for quite awhile. However, the farther she ran, the closer the fact that Juliana died was imprinted in her mind. My favorite part of this book was when Samantha found a tape Juliana had left behind for her. The recordings were snippets of Juliana's voice from the moment she found out she had cancer, up to the moment she was dying. Although it was a grievous moment, one of the last things Juliana said to Samantha was: "...I don't know, it'll be strange, but tell 'em I'm ready. That I'm not sad. I'm not even scared, not anymore. I know stuff I can't even begin to explain" (Hurwin 204). This in a way, set Samantha free, and she was able to know that Juliana went with no regrets, she left peacefully. I liked this book because it shows a true side of life, death. It makes the reader as a person respect those who are alive, and respect life altogether. It shows that death is a scary thing, and can happen instantaneously. Overall, it's a great book, and anyone whether you're a boy or a girl can pick it up and be indulged in it."
"This book left me with mixed feelings, and I'm not really sure why. I liked it at times, but mostly I felt indifferent. It might be because I didn't read the prequel, but I honestly don't know why I feel so ambivalent towards this book. I wouldn't discourage people from reading it though. The only part that really bothered me was the language."
