"I liked this book more than I thought I would. It is a bit different from Anne McCaffrey's style - I'm guessing Todd wrote most of it and Anne just proofed it. I could not say exactly what the difference is. But, I grew to really like the characters, Kindan, Zist, Nuella and the watchwher. I like seeing the watchwhers get more positive attention. A very good read!"
"It been years since I read a Pern book but fell back in love immediately. If you'd consider some of her books PG or PG-13 this one was G rated. I didn't want to put the book down near the end and then all of a sudden it was over. I wanted more. The ending was a little abrupt. Maybe the authors were up against a deadline."
"I'd give this 2.5 stars if I could, but it just doesn't rate 3. I loved McCaffrey's Dragonriders series ... heck, I loved everything she wrote. But the magic is gone. This book is entertaining, but it plods along."
