"Initially I obtained this book from my local library. I started reading it and it was so good that I immediately wanted my own copy for reference use.
I was elated to find that there is now a 2nd edition!
This book gives it to you down and dirty or as the author terms it, "quick-and-dirty." This is also his definition of a "hack." The book offers tips and tools that are easy, fast and effective!
I found myself tabbing and dog-earing every couple of pages and flipping back and forth as the hacks are all numbered and reference each other. I had no idea that there was so much for me to learn still about not only selling but buying as well.
Each "Hack" or tip/tool is numbered 1 to 125. There are 8 Chapters that cover the gamut of online auctioning. The book starts with Feedback and Diplomacy, then Searching, next is Bidding, then Selling, followed by an excellent chapter designated to Working with Photos.
This Chapter is so important and the topic often overlooked. As a Buyer often times I search and find an item only to click to get a closer look and I end up with a fuzzy photo and more questions than answers and I don't want to bother contacting the Seller. I usually shake my head and think, "Man, what were they thinking when they uploaded that photo?" And then I click onto another item and never look back. This is typical and he drives that home in Chapter 5 on photos.
The author also goes over how to do all the cool things that the power sellers do with the photos like creating galleries and using other website services that are free to save you money for uploading more than one photo. You've just got to get this book!
I checked out a number of similar books from the library the other day and none of them have kept me riveted like this one. As I read it the light bulb goes on and I think, "So, THAT'S how they do that!" The author explains it in a way that you can be a pro almost overnight. He has a website as well so that you can copy the script and paste it to save you the time from typing it all up. Ingenious!
He follows through with Completing Transactions, Running a Business on eBay and finishes with the eBay API. He provides script to automatically track auctions that you have sold and auctions that you have won.
You can pretty much run your online auctions through about 50% automation with his tips! Can you imagine!
