About this title: Translated from the Ethiopic manuscripts collected by King Theodore at Makdala and now in the British Museum. The number of Ethiopic manuscripts containing legends of the birth, life and death of the Virgin Mary is very great and the translations of all of them would take up many volumes. Budge collected a series of legends of the Virgin and added to them specimens of all the principal devotional works and so produced the present work. Illustrated.
