"Fun read, stranded on an island, dreamy love scenes. Most of us will never experience this so it is fun to read about dreamy stuff. The story is fun, a few twist along the way."
"I love these nerd books! This one was a little over the top with the characters and action plot, but never the less enjoyable. Vicki Lewis Thompson has a great talent for writing nerds and their loveable lines and characters. To those who already know and appreciate nerds, she's made them even more loveable than the already are!"
"I've been hearing little things about this book here and there, so when I saw it at Wal-Mart today, I grabbed it up. I thought that since it had been picked by one of the tv shows for its book read that Nerd might be a cut above the usual romance book. Alas, IMHO, no. It is a very usual romance book with cardboard characters and manipulated plots and unlikely dialogue, with a slightly clever twist---a nerd hero--- and a great title. Sigh."
"Ah! Jack Farley is a nerd, but charming and sweet at the same time. I loved the plot of the story--stranded on a deserted island, free to do whatever you want... It was a story filled with humor, fluff, and aww-inspiring moments.
For starters, I always like reading where the main female character is tried to get killed, therefore resulting in the male character to try and save her life. That is exactly what happened, three times at least, in Gen and Jack's case. Another thing is that I love reading about a crazed phycho ex, crush, or just a main phycho character in general. That was Nick. Now, he wasn't as crazed as some other characters I've met, but he was close enough. He tried to kill Jack and Gen, so that was pretty good. Not to mention the crazed plan he created to get away with three million dollars.
Another thing that I loved about Nerd in Shining Armor is that there is a love story within the main character's love story. That is Matt and Annabelle. At first, I was hesitant to have those two fall in love, because if they married, then Matt would be Gen's dad, and to me that screamed 'awkward' because she worked with the guy. But the more I read, the more I got used to the idea. I also love the bonding between Matt and Lincoln; he needs a fatherly figure in his life.
Finally, the last thing I loved about the story was that even though Gen originally had all these tests made for Jack to see if he would make a good boyfriend and possible husband, but then decided that she loved him no matter what, even though he passed the ice-cream test.
All in all, this was a fluffy bit of romance, a fast read, and funny in parts.
