"This is a cute book to talk about perspectives. You can talk about the different things a worm does that we might find weird. Great for students to make journal entries or even letters."
I love reading these "Diary of ______" books to my students, but have never read this story for some reason. The stories are funny and totally engaging. I like how it intermixes non-fiction ideas about worms, while doing it in a fantastical way. I also think these are great stories to teach kids about writing from different perspectives. The story is literally a diary of a worm, telling us all about what he does and sees. He finds a ripped dollar bill and says, "Isn't this leaf awesome!" This version of the story is like an animated movie almost, but the print is also at the bottom of the screen. The print is tracked, which is helpful to stay engaged with the print. The voice of the reader sounds like a child, which is totally fitting. I will definitely share this with my students!!"
"This story is written in diary form from the perspective of a young worm that discovers a different good or bad thing about life in his big world. Worm lives with his family, interacts with friends, and even goes to school. Even though his life sounds like a typical kid, he realizes this is not correct when he eats his own homework and can't truly participate in the hokey-pokey."
"This book is just hilarious! My library aide Ruth recommended it, and I liked it so much that I took it to the high school to share with the art teacher and some of my students who would enjoy its silliness! Art work REALLY makes it, especially the ones in the front and back inside cover pages."
