"The Volleyball Coaching Bible is a good general reference, and great for anyone interested in starting as a volleyball coach.
Each chapter is written by a different coach and section usefulness varies:
The non-technical sections (ie: "developing a successful high school program") take a conversational tone and are quick reads with helpful guiding principles.
The technical sections (digging, attack, block, etc) describe the skills well but lack much depth with respect to actual instruction (ie: teaching progression, key words, drill examples).
The section on practice planning (Bill Neville)is perhaps the most useful chapter and appears to have been used as a springboard for much of USAV's CAP1 instruction and textbook :"Coaching Volleyball: Building a Winning Team" (McGown).
I give it 3/5 stars because it would be quite useful as general reference for any who may lack experience in organized volleyball, but subsequent titles (McGown) target the coach's role as instructor much more effectively."
