About this title: This novel, based loosely on the White House scandals of the 1990s, begins with the death of the president after a dalliance in the Lincoln Bedroom with a major campaign contributor. For various comic reasons, the First Lady is accused of murdering him, and the top-drawer lawyer who defends her is a man she used to be involved with back in law school. And the plot continues to thicken. A New York Times Notable Book for 2002.

"My brother recommended this one and he was right...it was hilarious. The first lady is accused of murdering her philandering husband and the majority of the book is the trial. If you need some laughs and a quick read, I will loan this to you!"
"i first experienced reading a book by christopher buckley when i read the memoir of his mother and father. i find him a delightful author after two books now. this is a book with a lot of ifs, the main premise being that the president's wife has killed him upon his return to the marital bed following sex with his mistress in the lincoln bedroom. What follows are a lot of twists andd turns in an elaborately crafted story."
""No Way To Treat A First Lady" is a breezy look at the possibility of a First Lady being charged with capital murder of the President of the US. Buckley writes about what he knows well, and throws in just enough facts to make his satires believable, if a little far-fetched. As you read it you totally can see it made into a movie, like they did with "Thank You For Smoking", one of Buckley's other satires."
"I know it's silly but I liked it! I like Chris Buckley. He's funny, and I kept picturing Kevin Spacey and Catherine Zeta-Jones as the main characters."
