About this title: Traveling through caves, shrines, and war zones, Bruce Feiler, the author of WALKING THE BIBLE, sets out in search of one of history's defining religious figures, the man who encompasses three of the world's major religions--Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. In the second half of the book, Feiler takes a look at Abraham from the perspective of each of the three religions. The author manages to combine historical and spiritual quests with travel memoir in a way that general readers, especially those interested in world religions, may find intriguing.

"Fair and balanced and very challenging book about the person and icon, Abraham. Feiler positions his readers to view Abraham through the eyes of a Christian, Jew and Musim. Listened to this on vacation. Will likely return to this because of Feiler's ability to challenge some of my Evangelical assumptions."
"An interesting look at how Judaism, Islam and Christianity have taken the story of Abraham and used it to meet their needs and have made it their own. A though provoking book that causes one to question the infallibility of religion and the books they use to guide their followers."
"Although this is very educational it is a light approach to it. I learned a great deal about how Christians, Jews, and Muslims do all look to Abraham as a Father within their religion. Especially the Muslim perspective was new to me. I listened to it as a book on tape and it was well read too."
"I wish I could say this was a good book... I really liked the author's concept of finding common ground between the three Abrahamic faiths: Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. However, the research was shoddy, very few sources were cited, and some of the stated facts were inaccurate. It was pretty disappointing and I can't really recommend it because those were things that any good editor should have caught if the author had been too busy or lazy to look them up himself. That being said, one of my favorite quotes from this book was that "...as hard as it might be, we have to get over our mothers' advice that we should not discuss politics and religion in public. The extremists talk about religion in public - and spew messages of hate. Those of us who believe in mutual respect and coexistence must join this conversation as well." I couldn't agree more."
