"A good deal of the book is devoted to US-Mexico relations at the time, which is not what I had expected. While that information does explain the rationale behind Germany's proposal, I simply didn't find it interesting. I was also disappointed by the lack of "characters" in the book. The players did not come to life.
That said, you're bound to find some intriguing nuggets of information, and it's a readable account of an interesting story."
