About this title: 'All the men I did get to know, every single man of them, has filled me with but one desire: to lift my hand and bring it smashing down on his face. But because I am a woman I have never had the courage to lift my hand. And because I am a prostitute, I hid my fear under layers of make-up'. So begins Firdaus' story, leading to her grimy Cairo prison cell, where she welcomes her death sentence as a relief from her pain and suffering. Born to a peasant family in the Egyptian countryside, Firdaus suffers a childhood of cruelty and neglect. Her passion for education is ignored by her family, and ...

"This story takes place mostly in Cairo, Egypt, where a young woman, Firdaus is a professional prostitute and is completely lost in her life. Throughout her journey, she begins to realize that the men in the society she is living in are cruel no matter how nice or mean they are. There were several experiences where men would try to help her and make her feel comfortable, but then the men would go to far and take advantage of Firdaus. It's interesting how one of the decisions Firdaus makes around the end is very strange, but there was a true message behind it. Don't want to ruin it for anyone who didn't read it! Pretty good book"
"I will abbreviate this book as WAPZ. WAPZ is about a woman named Firdaus who gets sexually abused by everyone because she is a woman. Eventually, she becomes a prostitute, realizing it was more situational than marriage, and becomes so successful, she had men figuratively grovelling at her feet. Firdaus was born to acknowledge that men are better than women. She had this experience where her childhood friend, a little boy who I would like to punch in the fa... I mean, a little boy who would play with her and touch her inappropriately. Then, you would have Firdaus's uncle, who molested her. Then, you would have her father, who just uses her mother for his pleasures. And then lastly, when Firdaus's parents die, her uncle takes care of her for a while and then sells her for money, because money clearly makes everyone happy. Then Firdaus ran away and became a street whore, made a lot of money, and kills a pimp. She was eventually arrested for being a dangerous woman and then welcomed death to let her rest in peace. The overall message I received from this book was that this book was completely biased, due to the fact women are nothing without males, and vice versa. We cannot be seeing each other as the inferior or superior race. However, this book was so unbelievably unrealistic that I frowned upon it once Firdaus ran away. I mean come on! Her owner was a 60 year old, so what? How can you let someone escape like that? And then Firdaus prostitutes her way into the big leagues? No, just no. So basically, here's something we can all agree on: money makes everyone happy to an extent!"
"This book was filled with many issues and the search for one's identity in society. The main character Firdaus blindly falls into men's arms and become a prostitude without awareness. She believes that women will have power over men. She has met so many people in her life and there is absolutely no one she can fully pour her heart out to. Everyone she encounter just use her like she's a tissue and nothing important. Everyone looks at her like she's a play around doll. The message brought up is how women is used by men without any rights or sayings against it. it is unfair & should be stopped."
"Women at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi was one of the favorite book I have read. Althought there's a moment that have sacres me. But it kepts me keep on reading on. So this book was about how Firdaus grew up as person by the influence she had got when she was little. Noone had ever care about her and all the men she had met, used her for the pleasure. Firdaus became a prosisitue because of that which had disgusted me first but at the end she became a person and change herself for the better. This book is based on a.real story and I recommended anyone to read it, its easy to read and it keeps you interesting throughout the whole book."
