"I read this as I had never heard of Lee Child. My niece was reading him on her Kindel, so I decided to see what she liked so much. I guess it's not my thing. I don't want to read any more of his books."
"Reacher is contacted by his dead brothers ex girlfriend who is now a proectore of the vice president in the secret service.
Handy if you are a thriller writer for your characters to have these sort of contacts.
The vice president is being threatened and the only person that can help is someone outside the organisation..... who better for you to call on than a man you have never met who was nearly part of the family.
If you think it sounds stupid now, wait until you find out who is threatening the vice president and why!
You know what you are getting from Mr Child - he has formed a hugely lucrative career out of writing the same book every year. And who can forgive the "men want to be him, women want to bed him" line on the cover.
The quality of the books vary based on the social theme being investigated - sometimes like the missing vets and religious sects, it is great - other times, like here - its so preposterous that credibility goes.
Will persevere with the series on my next holiday."
"I still have problems with the whole "taking the law in one's own hands" thing, although I will admit that Lee Child can make a situation seem so real that you almost find yourself agreeing with Reacher's assessment. As far as edge-of-the-seat writing goes, Lee Child is incredible. He can easily interfere with your sleep if you try to put the book down without a situation being resolved."
"Another superb book by Lee Child. His hero, Jack Reacher, is among my favorite characters. He's his own person, does not play by any rules whatsoever, and always comes out just fine in the end game.
Virtually every one of Child's novels have risen to the top of the New York Times best seller list, so I guess that I'm not the only Child fan. If I have one problem with his books, it's that I generally don't get much sleep once I begin one, because I just can't put it down."
