About this title: A novel of crime and redemption, written by the author of "Last Exit to Brooklyn". It describes the unhappy romance that Bobby, a black gang member, carries on with the Hispanic Maria. A Hispanic gang, outraged that Maria is dating a black, beats Bobby up and kills Maria. Bobby is nursed back to health by Moishe, an elderly widower who survived the Nazi death camps and lost a son in the Vietnam War. He eventually convinces Bobby to foreswear revenge.
