About this title: Sommers argues against what she sees as the false, yet pervasive, notion that girls are shortchanged in schools, and marshals evidence for her thesis that boys are the at-risk population--especially in a politically correct culture fueled by a feminism that sometimes denigrates and demonizes them. A New York Times Notable Book for 2000.

"I learned that life for a boy, especially in school, is not as easy as I thought it was. I am glad I am homeschooling and will save my son from some of the "social" expirements taking place in our public schools. I am also thankful that I never fell for the "try to raise our sons as a girl" mentality. I did learn where I can do better as a mom, I learned to appreciate even more my son's uniqueness (he is surrounded during the day by two sisters and a mom), and I got a lot of cool ideas for homeschooling! I think it is a book that needs to be read by everyone."
"It was refreshing to see many false ideas debunked as society has put women on a pedestal and tried to shift all the attention to girls. It's good to discuss what our boys need and what they don't need. Boys need a father!"
"As the mother of a toddler boy, this book was great insight for me and addressed many of the issues I worry about for him. I'm sure there is bias as with any "opinion" piece, but overall a very informative book."
"The War Against Boys is written from a point of view that efforts to even the playing field between female and male development have left boys far behind. Having a feminist background this book has challenged much of what I have thought. I think it is a must read for anyone raising boys."
