About this title: The widely-acclaimed biography, written by her nephew. This was the first important volume in the avalanche of interest in Virginia Woolf as a person rather than merely a writer, and began the craze for information on the Bloomsbury Group.

"I'm not an enthusiastic reader of Woolf's work, but I enjoyed this biography by her nephew. I have found her work maddeningly difficult and fell asleep so many times before abandoning TO THE LIGHTHOUSE, but this book gave me an appreciation for her craft that her own works do not. It also provides an illuminating look at the milieu in which Woolf circulated. Especially evocative are the descriptions of favorite houses and locations."
"This book was written by her nephew and it more factual than I had hoped for. I felt I already knew much of what he offered in this book. There were no juicy tidbits."
