"My husband surprised me (at the airport, no less!) with a trip to Disneyland to celebrate our anniversary earlier this month, and knowing that I'm a planning freak, packed this book in our carry-on for me to read on the plane. Having read the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World for our trip there last January, I did not have high hopes- and my fears rang true.
There are glaring errors in this book- one being that The Enchanted Tiki Room is the same version that plays @ Walt Disney World, in Florida. Not true- the DL version is the original Tiki Bird show as Walt designed it- the Florida show has been updated with the addition of Iago from Alladin, and Zazu from The Lion King and the show is completely different. If I hadn't known better, I would have skipped the DL version because we did not care for the WDW version.
I also found their dining section to be less than helpful. They list many restaurants as "table service" that are, in fact, buffets. I don't have a thing against Disney Buffets, but there comes a time in my commando touring that I need to be off my feet for a while, and a buffet just doesn't fit the bill. It took several tries before finding a table service eatery that had actual waiters who took your order. A simple designation of "buffet" would have saved us a lot of walking. By our second day there, we weren't even going off the Unofficial Guide's categorization, but rather just asking the closest Disney Cast Member for their recommendation- and we were never steered wrong."
"Great information. My sister lent it to me, but I'd say it's definitely worth the money. I found it very interesting and appreciated all the little tips from other tourists. I intend to put the touring plans into effect when we go this fall with our three year old and one year old."
