"Jose Parramon is the author of a number of small books covering individual subjects relating to drawing, painting and art in general. He has also written some larger books such as this one covering a wide range of subjects related to one medium. This book is fantastic for anyone who wants to learn to paint with oils. It starts off with an overview of the history of art covering the materials and techniques of the masters which I found very useful. The other chapters are a mixture of the basics covering materials and tools, colour theory, techniques etc. Parramon is a good teacher and covers the basics before moving on to more in-depth skills. His understanding of colour is exceptional and he covers it well in this book with explanations and exercises to get you to interpret what he is teaching. A worthwhile book for any aspiring painter."
