About this title: Eddie Twyborn is bisexual and beautiful, the son of a Judge and a drunken mother. With his androgynous hero - Eudoxia/Eddie/Eadith Twyborn - and through his search for identity, for self-affirmation and love in its many forms, Patrick White takes us into the ambiguous landscapes, sexual, psychological and spiritual, of the human condition.

"The first time I read this book, I was so astonished by the whole book and the ending that I went back to the beginning and read the book over again! Patrick White is not always easy to read, but I found this book very readable and certainly intriguing and different.
It is one of my favourite books and I have read it at least four times. I lent out my old copy once too many times and never got it back so now I will not lend anyone my new copy."
