About this title: The Rev Richard Wurmbrand is an evangelical minister who endured 14 years of Communist imprisonment and torture in his homeland, Romania. In 1945, when the Communists seized the country and attempted to control the churches for their purposes, Wurmbrand began an "underground" ministry to his enslaved people and the invading Soviet soldiers. He was eventually arrested in 1948, with his wife, who became a slave-labourer for three years. Richard Wurmbrand spent three years in solitary confinement, seeing no one but his Communist torturers. After three years he was transferred to a mass cell for ...

"This was the book that really got me interested in Russia. It was very good. It was about a Christian man who was tortured for his beliefs in the lord, and it tells you of the need for Bibles for the Russians, even though it was written a long time ago I believe that in certain parts of Russia they still need Bibles. I recommend this book to any teenager who is interested in Russia or just wants to get stronger in the Lord."
"Please read this book. It will open up the world of the Underground church and show the desperate needs of the souls that are in danger. It will make you weep for those who have given all for Christ so that another may know Him. You cannot walk away from this book as the same person with the same perspective. A real eye opener for those of us who live in America, relatively free with no persecution."
"Pretty good who-dunit by a first time author. Set in the remote Shetland Isles and centering around the found body of a young woman who had died and was cremated a year earlier than her actual death. The protagonist is an English obstetrician who is new to the island and keeps looking for other missing women who have just given birth. I am not always a fan of British writers but I found this to my liking. Probably because I could relate to the medical angle."
