"A superb biography written with 'no holds barred' Covering his many 'lives' as an ex-patriot Englishman in the US a couple of years before the War of Independence, his roller-coaster experiences fomenting revolution in England and then in France, are covered in gripping detail. His most influential writings from "Common Sense", which sparked the idea of US independence from England in the minds of pre-revolutionary Americans, The "RIghts of Man" which became a standard text on anti monarchism, and "The Age of Reason' describing architypal deism, his well-reasoned disdain for established 'Religions', with adequate quatations from his writings are admirably composed. His interactions with his friend James Muroe whilst in France and the shameful behaviour of Gouveneur Morris (another very colourful character and then US minister to France) refusing to help Paine's release from prison in France are eminently readable and educational. A great read, highly recommended for entertainment, and education on probaly our most influential Founding 'Father'"
